Therapy for Multiple Chemical Sensitivity

Jennifer Leupp, LCSW in California

Are you feeling isolated from your loved ones?

Maybe your doctors, therapists friends and family members are telling you it’s all in your head, or perhaps your loved ones or employer is unwilling to make the changes necessary for you to feel well. You may be struggling to make it through the day at work, or simply are not able to work at all. Perhaps you’re feeling a deep sense of despair due to the isolation.

Whatever it is that you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:

  • Struggling to stay focused and productive.
  • Feeling anxious when you think about leaving your home.
  • Feeling that your loved ones don’t care about you.
Therapy for Multiple Chemical Sensitivity can help.

Therapy for Multiple Chemical Sensitivity can help.

It may feel impossible now, but you can feel more hopeful. You can connect with people. You can lift your mood. And I can help you get there.

Therapy for Multiple Chemical Sensitivity helps you do 3 things:
  • Become aware of the emotions that are associated with your chemical reactions.
  • Understand how to find relief from your difficult feelings.
  • Learn the tools that will help alleviate your emotional reactions, so you can feel more empowered amidst your illness.

I’ll help through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to Therapy for Multiple Chemical Sensitivity comes from a place of hope: believing that your mind is not the “problem”, but that cultivating more balanced emotions can provide relief.

You don’t have to live life feeling hopeless and alone.

I can help you get there.

FAQs

Q: What are Therapy for Multiple Chemical Sensitivity sessions like?

A: First we will get to know one another. I will ask you questions about your background and what has currently been going on for you.  Then we will take a look at your thoughts and your emotions and come up with ways to reframe your thoughts and find more balance.  We will identify any limiting beliefs and challenge them using talk therapy and possibly an evidence-based treatment for trauma called EMDR Therapy.  Lastly, If you would like to we can start sessions with a guided meditation and I can give you tips on how to start your own meditation practice in order to lessen the emotional response that comes along with your chemical reactions.

Q: How long do I need to be in therapy?

A: ,The length of therapy is based on your individual needs. Some clients are in need of shorter term support while other clients appreciate longer term support.  I’m happy to be there for you for the length of time that feels right for your needs.

Q: How do I know if Therapy for Multiple Chemical Sensitivity will work for me?

A: Therapy for MCS can work for you if you are having a hard time managing your emotions on your own.  While I cannot guarantee that therapy will improve your MCS symptoms,  I do believe that your emotional responses can be alleviated.  EMDR has been proven to be effective in treating people that have had difficult life experiences, and these experiences can often times trigger our MCS symptoms to worsen.  While I definitely believe that our reactions to chemicals have a strong physical component, I am also a proponent of looking at the mind-body connection and would love to assist you in finding relief wherever possible.

Q: How do we get started?

A:  Call me or email me for a free 15 minute consult.  I will share a bit about my approach and you can ask any questions that you may have.
